Philippines: Kalinga PDCC conducts disaster drills and orientation
In celebration of the Fire Prevention and Safety Month in March, the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PPDC) conducted fire and earthquake drills and disaster preparedness orientation to boost the province's disaster response capabilities.
According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Provincial Coordinator Cristeta Reyes, four major separate activities were undertaken and participated by two schools and one barangay this year. These are the Orientation on Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM), Basic Life Support, First Aid and Emergency Rescue and Transfer (ERT), Earthquake and Fire Drill.
"For this year, the PDCC has targeted St. Tonis College and Tuga National High School and Barangay Laya as the pilot areas to conduct the disaster preparedness drills and orientation," she said informing that every year a school is selected for the conduct of said safety drills.
