Three incoming senior architecture students from the University of the Philippines Diliman developed a climate-adaptive and disaster-resilient school design strong enough to survive supertyphoons like "Yolanda."
The Philippine Daily Inquirer describes the model that topped the school category of "Build Forward," a competition sponsored by a property developer. It includes storm shutters that can be pulled down to close off the entire building during typhoons and a form that was designed to redirect strong winds and to control their impact, for an estimated cost of P1.2 million for the materials.
