Nigeria yet to achieve risk reduction target - NEMA

The Director General, National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria (NEMA), Muhammad Sani Sidi, speaking to journalists reporting on risk and disaster management at a media retreat for journalists, said the framework designed by NEMA identifies specific priorities for action which include prioritizing disaster risk reduction, improving risk information and early warning, building a culture of safety and resilience and strengthening disaster preparedness for effective response, among others, reports the Nigerian Tribune.

He said, “These priorities are intended to help nations to attain a substantial reduction of disaster losses in lives as well as the social, economic and environmental assets of communities and countries.”
