Malaysia: Geographic database to be accessible online

Dharmenda Singh reports that a legal framework drafted by the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry will soon make all geographical data, such as natural hazard sites and land use, available on-line in a comprehensive database, according to Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas.

“I believe that if it is widely used by all government agencies, it can also become a vital tool in monitoring problems like floods and other 'natural' disasters, pandemics and even crime," he stated.
