The Jakarta Post reports the launch last Thursday in Jakarta of the Australia-Indonesia Facility for Disaster Reduction (AIFDR) by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Stephen Smith. The facility aims to combine scientific monitoring and construction technologies with a community-based training and outreach programme to minimize the potential impact of natural disasters in Indonesia.
