Indonesia: Sounds of summer - Aceh's reconstruction effort
A delegation from Haiti recently visited Yogyakarta and Aceh to learn from the reconstruction efforts from the disasters that have hit both places in 2004, 2006 and 2010, reports Australian Broadcasting Corporation ABC in the World Today.
"Through the project they're awareness of disaster risk reduction has increased. And they see the value of even putting their own money, extra money into making houses that will be resistant," says Shamima Khan Java manager of the $94 million reconstruction fund made up of mostly European donors, the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, speaking about reconstruction efforts in Yogyakarta Sri Paku Alam.
