The Kenya WCIS Needs Dashboard is a data visualisation tool built with pro bono technical support from Esri, using data and insights from our research in Kenya, as part of our broader effort to ensure that critical weather and climate information is shared in ways that are timely, trusted, and easy to understand so people can adapt to serious weather and climate changes.

[...]

The dashboard brings together our insights into how communities in Kenya perceive and respond to weather and climate risks, including their general knowledge and awareness of climate change, adaptation strategies, and the barriers and motivators that influence their protective actions. It also explores how people access and trust weather information services, how they use media and digital channels (including social media), and how mis- and disinformation around climate and weather influence decision-making.

The tool captures gaps in how weather and climate information is produced, communicated, and understood across different groups – providing a fuller picture of the information ecosystem and the behaviours it shapes.

Designed to inform evidence-based decision-making, the dashboard allows users to explore how different groups engage with forecasts and early warnings, revealing patterns in risk perception, information sources, preparedness and trust.
