Call for papers: Institutionalising and sustaining multi-hazard risk governance in a changing climate: challenges and opportunities in urban context of the North and South
Submission deadline: 31 January 2027
This special collection from the 16th International Conference of the Integrated Disaster Risk Management (IDRiM 2026) will focus on evidence related to institutionalising and sustaining multi-hazard risk governance in a changing climate, with attention to challenges and opportunities across both the Global North and Global South. We encourage contributions that engage with provocative and insightful questions. For example:
Why are some communities able to sustain long-term investment in risk reduction, while others struggle to maintain momentum?
Should we reconsider the current emphasis on multi-hazard early warning systems, given that many countries and societies face difficulties sustaining even single-hazard early warning capacities?
We particularly welcome long-term evidence and practical lessons from efforts to govern single-hazard risks—through early warning systems, emergency preparedness, land-use planning, and building codes—as well as insights into how these experiences can inform more robust multi-hazard governance.
