Bhutan calls for childrens' regional platform to 'safeguard against risk of disasters'

“No country in the world can afford to have the luxury to believe that it is safe from natural calamities, as well as disaster caused by human beings through ignorance and often through deliberate calculation,” said education minister, Lyonpo Thakur S Powdyel, at a high-level meeting on child rights held from 4-6 November in Beijing, China.

“There’s also a need to create the necessary space for the children’s own south-south platform that could go a long way in mounting disaster management interventions.”
