Belarus is ready for cooperation in all the areas of preventing and alleviating consequences of emergencies, said Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Vashchenko at the plenary session of the United Nations’ 4th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction. The session takes place in Geneva on 19-24 May, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.

The event has been arranged to assess the fulfillment of the UN’s Hyogo Framework for Action for 2005-2015, which is aimed at reducing risks and threats relating to natural disasters.

A Belarusian delegation has been sent to participate in the Global Platform. At the plenary session Vladimir Vashchenko underlined that a national platform had been created in Belarus on the basis of the state system for preventing and alleviating consequences of emergencies. The national platform meets priority areas of the Hyogo Framework for Action.

Belarus is ready for tight and productive cooperation with international and regional organizations, foreign states, private and public sectors, research and education institutions at all levels and in all the aspects involved in preventing and alleviating consequences of disasters for the sake of the safe, stable, and dynamic development of the global community, remarked the Emergencies Minister.
