Through the example of initiatives of effective community mobilisation for social welfare of disaster affected people in Bangladesh, this op-ed shows that the paradigm has shifted from relief to disaster preparedness and that the main responsibility lies with the community people in this regard. It encourages the community to discover their potentiality so that they can solve their problems by themselves and not waiting for any external support.
