US national preparedness month
2011 saw more billion-dollar natural disasters than any other year on record. Hurricane Irene, devastating southern tornadoes, and record flooding proved that mother nature shows no remorse. Add these natural disasters to unfortunate every day events such as power outages, server failures, etc, and it’s easy to understand how disasters can happen every day. For the eighth consecutive year, Agility Recovery is participating in National Preparedness Month by collaborating with FEMA, the Ready Campaign, and Citizen Corps to educate Americans about the importance of preparedness. For the whole month of September, Agility’s Pledge to Prepare 2012 campaign will provide organizations and communities with simple steps to prepare for disasters.
Throughout September, Agility will host a series of free webinars directed at personal and community preparedness. These engaging educational webinars will provide businesses, communities, homes and families with the tools needed to survive a disaster. 2011 showed us that we can never be too prepared, and these lessons learned will help us make our country safer and more resilient in 2012.
Four free webinars are scheduled throughout September:
- 9/5 - Ten Steps to Prepare Any Organization for Disaster: featuring guest speaker James Rivera, SBA Associate Administrator for the Office of Disaster Assistance
- 9/12 - Protecting your Organization and Preparing your Employees: featuring guest speaker Daniel Stoneking, FEMA Director of Private Sector Division
- 9/19 - Utilization of Social Media During a Crisis: featuring guest speaker Laura Howe, Vice President of Public Relations for the Red Cross
- 9/26 - Surviving a Crisis, Large or Small: Real-life Lessons Learned
'Prepare My Business webinars all have a few key points in common: they are free, informative, interactive, and most importantly – can make the difference in whether your business is prepared to respond and recover from the next disaster,' said Daniel Stoneking, Director of the Private Sector for FEMA, and guest speaker on Agility’s September 12 webinar.
