II International course: Adaptation to climate change and the role of ecosystem services

The main objectives of the course are:

1. to review the state the art in the design of adaptation strategies to climate change,
2. to share experiences from the Latin American region and
3. to strengthen a research network on the role of ecosystem services for adaptation to climate change.

The course is developed with lectures and presentations by invited speakers. The course is organized in four topics of relevance for developing adaptation strategies to climate change. Each topic will be covered from theoretical concepts to a practical study from the region.

1. Introduction to adaptation and the role of ecosystem services
2. Vulnerability of ecosystems to climate change
3. Vulnerability of society to climate change
4. Response of society to climate change
- Policies and climate change adaptation
-Financial mechanisms and communication for adaptation to climate change
5. Case study
