Flooding in Australia
Background
Over the past three years, flooding has been a feature of Australian summers. With climate change predicted to result in more of these extreme events, there is a need to learn from past events to help us prepare for the future. Targeted studies from the 2010 and 2011 floods engaged with end users from the beginning and allowed researchers to learn from recent experience. At the Flooding in Australia forum, NCCARF researchers will present key research findings.
Research will be presented at the forum that targets practical issues in building design and key factors in community resilience. They will address lessons from the insurance industry and insight into issues in planning and building in flood prone areas.
