The exclusive initiative of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia for IDDR 2013

On October 11, Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia is going to organise a special press-tour dedicated to the International Day for Disaster Reduction. This year the focus of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (13 October) is on people with disabilities. Representatives of local and international mass media, as well as various international and non-governmental organizations are invited to get familiar with the best practice of the Ministry.

Ministry of Emergency Situations is the first and unique governmental body in Armenia which hires people with disabilities. Now they are not a vulnerable part of society. They became active participants of prevention and respond operations as well as planning and development of policy.

Armen Yeritsyan, Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia stated, it is not only about providing job for people with disabilities. This is an opportunity to make them full members of emergency management system.
