Building Resilience of Water Sector to Climate Change: Strategies and Tools for Water Resource Management
- English
Course Overview
This course focuses on strengthening the capacity of water sector professionals to manage climate-related risks and enhance water security. It introduces strategies, tools, and best practices for integrating climate resilience into water resource planning, allocation, and infrastructure management.
Participants will learn to apply climate data, scenario analysis, and adaptive management approaches to develop sustainable and resilient water management systems.
Course Objectives
By the end of this three-day training, participants will be able to:
- Analyze the specific impacts of climate variability (droughts, floods, and saline intrusion) on water availability and quality.
- Integrate climate change adaptation strategies into Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) frameworks.
- Utilize climate modeling and scenario analysis tools to forecast future water demand and supply gaps.
- Evaluate structural and non-structural measures for enhancing the resilience of water infrastructure (dams, irrigation systems, and urban water supply).
- Apply adaptive management principles to water governance and policy-making in the face of uncertainty.
