About

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, which has spearheaded the multistakeholder collaboration evident in many global agendas such as the SDGs and the Paris Agreement, is at its mid-term turning point. One of the Sendai Framework Priority for Action is investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience, and the Framework calls for all stakeholders to identify possible forms of investment into resilience, and implement them.

This year’s ARISE Japan Public Symposium draws attention to the two key forms of investment into disaster resilience seen among the private sector: a) investments that are part of businesses’ own management strategy, to strengthen resilience of its business continuity, assets, and facilities; and b) investments towards innovating, developing and providing products and services that contribute to resilience of society at large. The event will discuss how these private sector investments contribute to turn understanding of risk into DRR action, through good practice examples.
