This 5-day training will focus on the ARC-D tool (Analysis of the Resilience of Community to Disaster) developed by GOAL between 2010 and 2016. Expected participants are mid-level staff from NGOs, UN agencies, and government representatives involved in resilience-related programs and/or Monitoring and Evaluation in Niger. Invitations for this training have already been sent but if you are interested, please contact us. The training will be in French.

The ARC-D is designed as a concise and user-friendly tool to assess the level of disaster resilience of communities (on a Likert scale from 1 to 5), to a chosen risk scenario through a consensus-based structured Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The FGD is guided by 30 key questions, each linked to a community-level resilience component. The ARC-D provides a holistic snapshot of a community’s disaster resilience status and allows a ‘vital signs’ check on socio-economic systems. The results can be used to inform and guide strategy, programming, monitoring and evaluation and advocacy efforts, and, where appropriate, to orient more detailed follow-up assessments.
