This course will be a face-to-face training. It will be scheduled from September 11 to 15, 2023.

Short course introduction

The last three years have brought unprecedented losses in lives and properties as a result of floods. Countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia experienced the worst floods in recent memory, where thousands were displaced and hundreds of millions of dollars lost. In other parts of the globe, African nations experienced their worst mudslide as a result of flash floods. In North and Latin America, the United States, Chile and Peru had their own share of losses. These events are attributed to changes in climatic conditions brought about by anthropogenic activities.

The course discusses an integrated approach for developing flood risk reduction strategies enabling a holistic view of flood risks and flood risk reduction. It offers a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises exploring international and local flood risk management experiences.
