Mission
亘理町（わたりちょう）は、宮城県南部の太平洋沿岸に位置し、亘理郡に属する町である。
亘理伊達氏の城下町として知られる。
2011年（平成23年）3月11日 - 東北地方太平洋沖地震が発生。亘理町では震度6弱を記録し、役場庁舎が使用不可能となる。さらに大津波により町の面積の47%が浸水し、荒浜・大畑浜・吉田浜・長瀞浜など沿岸の地区が壊滅的被害を受けた。この震災による町民の死者・行方不明者は計305人（町内で発見された遺体は257体）。また5,600棟を超える住宅が全半壊し、産業被害総額は3,353億円超にのぼった。
Watari is a town located in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
Watari was severely damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake on 11 March 2011.Hundreds of people were stranded in a school but were airlifted from the roof by Japanese military helicopters.The tsunami covered 47% of the town's area and 305 residents were reported killed or missing.

Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
