Gender advisor – disaster management (volunteer)

Fiji Red Cross have identified a need to integrate gender more effectively into disaster management. The Gender Adviser will work across a number of programs on this integration and will be a regional resource for gender and disaster management. The volunteer may be expected to travel within the Pacific to work with National Society DM staff from other National Societies.
The gender adviser will also work with other Pacific National Societies on sensitization, training, DM planning, and implementation of gender-sensitive DM programs and activities.
A major element of the work plan will be to ensure that all activities are designed and conducted to ensure the local sustainability beyond the time of the volunteer assignment.
Successful applicants will demonstrate:
- Significant professional experience in the not-for-profit sector
- Previous work in the Pacific and or with Red Cross
- Experience working with volunteers
- Demonstrated experience in program planning and implementation
- Proven experience in organizational development and enhancing institutional capacity in a disaster management and preparedness context
