A Peace Corps Response Volunteer is needed to serve as a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer for the newly created City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO). The DRRMO aims to provide integrated direction and control at the City level in order that manpower, material, monitoring, and other necessary resources will be made available and responsive to the disaster and calamities which may occur in the locality. This partnership with Peace Corps Response aims to assist the DRRMO staff to carry out its functions for its constituents according to national standards and envisions addressing the technical gaps and needs by securing an external technical support particularly from the PCRV.
By the end of the PCRV’s assignment, he/she is expected to have reviewed and enhanced the City Disaster Operation Manual, training module for community disaster preparedness and conducted a training program with CDRRMO personnel on disaster risk management vis-à-vis their organizational function. The goal of the project is to fundamentally strengthen technical capacities of the entire staff to fully accomplish the mandate set for the purpose of providing efficient and effective program and services to its constituents in addressing disaster concerns.
Qualifications
* Any Bachelor’s Degree holder but preferably with a Graduate Degree.
* At least three years experience in disaster management training and response.
* Background in development of disaster management training materials.
