Reducing risk to enable SDG acceleration
The solutions, good practices and lessons learned presented in this paper seek to support United Nations Country Teams (UNCTs) to reduce risk in order to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) using SDG transitions, adopted by the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) in 2024. The paper and learning modules focus on reducing risks to sustainable development. Many of these risks fall within the scope of the hazards included under the Sendai Framework, including natural and human-made hazards.
The audience for this set of papers and learning modules is UNCTs, Resident Coordinators, and United Nations strategic planners and programme officers at the country and regional level and at the global level, disaster risk reduction (DRR) experts/focal points as well as other interested development partners. The audience should not be limited to DRR focal points, but to everyone who is involved in the analysis, planning and implementation of United Nations activities at the global, regional and country level.
