This free event will explore how disasters affect gender and sexual minorities and inform a more inclusive disaster risk reduction process.
Join us for a full-day online conference exploring how disasters impact gender and sexual minorities, with a focus on vulnerability, capacity, and the pathways to more inclusive disaster risk reduction.
Through keynote contributions, expert panels, and interactive breakout sessions, the event will examine masculinities, non-Western perspectives, data equity, gender-based violence, and the challenges of putting policy into practice. A light gamified thread follows the story of a fictional family navigating a disaster, encouraging participants to reflect on real-world dilemmas faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals and families.
Together, we will use these insights to inform an improved Gender Action Plan that better responds to the diverse realities of those most often left at the margins.
