NEC Corporation will supply of a wide-area disaster prevention system to the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency of the Republic of Indonesia. A grant aid from the Japanese government program for improving equipment for disaster risk management will be used for this system, which is scheduled to commence operation in the first half of 2018.

The effectiveness of the system was confirmed as the trial was conducted in Chiang Mai Province in Northern Thailand
In collaboration with Thailand’s National Disaster Warning Center (NWDC), NEC Corporation has conducted a trial of its flood simulation system to predict the inundation areas in the event of flood. The integrated risk management system module is based on meteorological, topographical, and watercourse data, and can provide hourly predictions up to seven days in advance.

The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
