As an integral member of a dynamic, collaborative team with the fire management programme, you will have the opportunity to help meet the increasing future fire management challenges.
You will:
- plan, coordinate and implement the operational and technical aspects of the fire management programme
- lead a team of professional and technical staff
- create strong partnerships and stakeholder involvement and awareness in fire management strategies and tactics, prevention and fuel management activities
While there is some flexibility for the work location in the off season, during the fire season the headquarters for this position will be Pickle Lake Attack Base.

Management and leadership skills:
- You have strong supervisory and leadership skills.

- You have the ability to interpret and apply human resources and recruitment policies and practices.

Technical knowledge:
- You have knowledge of: fire behaviour, fire ecology and impacts of fire on landscape, suppression strategies, prescribed burning, weather indices, suppression equipment capabilities and requirements on fire
- You have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation such as the Forest Fires Prevention Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other regulations and guidelines.
- You have demonstrated technical skills and knowledge of resource management theories and practices.
General skills:
- You have proven interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
- You have the ability to prepare short and long range plans, make presentations and deliver training courses, workshops and seminars.
- You have proven ability to build strong stakeholder and public relationships.
- You have proven negotiation skills.
- You are familiar with administrative and financial functions.
- You have the ability to deliver programs, prepare work plans, and work within financial controls and guidelines.
