Together - against disaster: UNDP's disaster risk management (DRM) in Tajikistan

This article presents UNDP's Disaster Risk Management programme which aims to prevent or significantly reduce the effects of the large number of 'natural' disasters occurring on the territory of Tajikistan, causing the national economy significant economic damage and which often bring to human casualties.
It contains: (i) an interview the Programme Manager Khusraw Sharifov; (ii) an overview of the project "Strengthening the coordination of humanitarian assistance and early warning system in Tajikistan"; (iii) a presentation of the Training-methodological centre of the Committee of Emergency Situations contributing to implementation of issues related to disaster management; (iv) an overview of the implementation of DIPECHO Action plan VI about disaster reduction capacity building in Central Asia; and (v) a presentation of the Information Management and Analytical Centre established in the Committee of Emergency Situations.
