It also manages a specific programme on disaster management.
Disaster Management and Preparedness Programme (DMPP)
The activities of DMPP are divided into two major categories: i) providing post-disaster assistance, and ii) disaster preparedness.
This programme was put in place in 1984 so that all-out support could be provided to the disaster-affected people of
the country, to reduce their vulnerability, from a series of lessons learned in disaster management. Proshika has set a process in motion through which it can rush to the hapless people to reduce their sufferings and ensure their rehabilitation in the shortest time possible.
Proshika also offers disaster management training to its staff as well as group members to enhance their capacity.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
