Role of information and communications technology in the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action

This document addresses the important role of information and communications technology (ICT) for disaster risk reduction and management in the Asia-Pacific region. It describes the fundamental role of ICT in supporting the Hyogo Framework for Action and reviews trends and emerging capabilities in ICT, including those related to space and to disaster risk reduction and management in the region. It also highlights the importance of enhancing the resilience of ICT to reduce the damage and losses that could be caused by disasters.
