Risk, disaster and resilience - a challenge for the municipality of Amadora

This paper demonstrates how the Municipality of Amadora, Portugal joined the international campaign of the United Nations Making Cities Resilient 2010-2015, how it was implemented at local level and the strategy used by the municipality in disaster risk reduction. The campaign launched the challenge to all communities to develop a set of best practices that make them more resilient in the face of disaster, as the responsibility for disaster risk reduction is a mission that involves everyone.
