Thailand national adaptation plan
Thailand’s National Adaptation Plan (2023) provides a comprehensive framework to strengthen climate resilience by reducing vulnerability and integrating adaptation into national, sectoral, and local development planning. Recognising Thailand’s high exposure to climate risks, including rising temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns, floods, droughts, and sea-level rise, the plan prioritises proactive, long-term adaptation across six key sectors: water resources, agriculture and food security, tourism, public health, natural resources, and human settlements. It emphasizes mainstreaming climate considerations into policies, budgets, and decision-making processes, supported by strong governance structures, stakeholder coordination, and science-based data systems. The NAP also highlights the importance of capacity-building, climate information systems, financing, and technology to enable effective implementation. Overall, the plan positions adaptation as a central pillar of sustainable development, aiming to build a climate-resilient economy and society through anticipatory planning, risk-informed development, and cross-sectoral collaboration.
