Mitigation case studies: protecting school children from tornadoes, State of Kansas School Shelter Initiative, August 2002

A proactive school shelter initiative run by the Wichita Public School District which has not only taken decisive action to protect the children in its schools, but also led by example, spurring the implementation of a broader shelter construction program that involves private and public schools in other areas of the state.
