IPCC fifth assessment report: conclusions of the IPCC Working Group I AR5, AR4, SREX and SRREN - presentation
A presentation made at the 19th Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC (COP19) in Warsaw, Poland, by the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), describing the conclusions of the Working Group I on the fourth and fifth assessment reports, the Special report on managing the risks of extreme events and disasters to advance climate change adaptation (SREX) and the Special report on renewable energy sources and climate change mitigation (SRREN).
Using graphs, it demonstrates: (i) that warming of the climate is unequivocal; (ii) the observed changes in the climate system; (iii) the causes of change; (iv) that warming will continue beyond 2100 under all RCP scenarios except RCP2.6; (v) the future changes in the climate system; (vi) the likelihood of extreme events during and by the end of the 21st century; (vii) the implications for sustainable development, including the influence of disaster risk management; (viii) the characteristics of stabilization scenarios; (ix) the renewable energy costs; and (x) the barriers to overcome.
