Germany: Immediate Climate Adaptation Programme 2022
With this Programme, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection responds to the Order of the Federal Constitutional Court in the Neubauer et al. v. Germany case which highlighted the rights of future generations (2021). The Programme seeks to set out adaptation measures to counter the inevitable effects of the climate crisis.
The three pillars of this emergency programme are capacity building; provision of information and advice; and better networking of municipal stakeholders. The emergency programme also sets out next steps. These include passing a climate adaptation law and approving a preventive adaptation strategy.
