Using traditional ecological knowledge for climate-resilient primary health care
The brief illustrates how the project, backed by the Community Resilience Partnership Program Trust Fund, is building climate-resilient, gender-responsive primary health care by integrating traditional ecological knowledge, strengthening health systems, and empowering vulnerable communities—particularly ethnic minorities and women—against climate-related health risks through capacity building, infrastructure upgrades, and community-based adaptation.
Through a systemic and health equity lens, the project identified activities that could enhance the adaptive capacity of communities to deal with health risks such as climate-sensitive diseases, chronic heat, and waterborne and foodborne diseases.
