Strengthening climate resilience through social protection programs
This report shows how adaptive systems that respond to climate shocks can increase resilience for women and marginalised communities. In densely populated Bangladesh, stronger social protection management is key to supporting vulnerable groups.
Backed by ADB and the Community Resilience Partnership Program Trust Fund, it considers how Bangladesh can adapt and scale its current social protection programs to better respond to the impacts of the changing weather and climate. It analyses its Second Strengthening Social Resilience Program, considers how to adapt its Employment Generation Program for the Poorest, and shows how other countries can replicate Bangladesh’s efforts to embed climate into existing social protection programs.
