PROCULTHER-NET 2 Technical Bulletin – Issue 5
Drawing on experiences gained in managing the impact of disasters on cultural heritage, the fifth Edition of the PROCULTHER-NET 2 Technical Bulletin asks how we can reduce risks and improve preparedness for increasingly frequent and diverse natural and human-induced hazards, by presenting examples, case studies, approaches and strategies to manage risks at international, national, and local levels.
The Bulletin opens with a section on preparedness, featuring two examples of full-scale exercises. In the section on response, it presents first-hand accounts from the teams who provided emergency assistance to cultural heritage sites during three major crises. The final section, "Focus On", emphasises the importance of adopting inclusive and comprehensive approaches when addressing risks to cultural heritage.
This edition includes a foreword by Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, Kamal Kishore.
