Policy and steering instrument recommendations for climate resilience
These 13 recommendations aim to help regions adapt faster, smarter, and more systemically, while addressing the needs of vulnerable communities and ensuring long-term sustainability. The recommendations are based on an in-depth analysis of the steering and policy instruments in the Regions4Climate regions*. Key documents, such as climate adaptation plans, regional development strategies, and innovation frameworks, were reviewed to assess their alignment with EU climate goals
Some of the recommendations for smarter adaptation include:
- Broaden climate risk assessment, monitor losses, and inform adaptation planning
- Leverage local and Indigenous knowledge in climate adaptation planning and decision-making
- Build a cross-sectoral knowledge base and diversify informational instruments
- Enhance education and public awareness to support informed climate adaptation
- Mobilize private sector investment in climate resilience
