Disaster risk awareness and preparedness of the EU population: Czechia
This report on disaster risk awareness and preparedness in Czechia reveals that cybersecurity threats (33%) and extreme weather events (31%) are top concerns. Czechia also ranks critical infrastructure disruption (27%) higher than many other EU countries. Media is the main source of disaster preparedness. Czechs feel confident in coping with disasters through preparation (78%), but only 33% feel well-prepared, below the EU average. While trust in public services (86%) and emergency services (91%) are relatively high, many Czechs still seek more information to improve their readiness.
This serial survey assesses the awareness of EU citizens about the disaster risks that could affect them, their preparedness to face various disaster risk scenarios, and the reliance they place on a range of actors in disaster situations. The survey also explores the engagement of EU citizens in voluntary work to increase disaster resilience.
