Disaster preparedness, hazard mitigation and emergency response plan for St. Thomas
This document highlights some of the major hazards the parish of St. Thomas faces. The purpose of the document is to ensure the parish has strong mitigation actions as well as tangible standard operating procedures for response to natural and anthropogenic hazards and the impacts of climate change such as hurricanes, tropical storms, storm surges, floods, fires, droughts, tsunamis and health related epidemics/pandemics.
The St. Thomas Parish Plan was first developed in 2010. The plan has been subsequently reviewed by the Parish Disaster Committee through consultations conducted in 2016 and 2018. These consultations were led by the Parish Disaster Coordinator. It is hoped that the plan will be reviewed every two years via table top orientation sessions, simulation exercises and workshops to facilitate various aspects of the plan.
