The climate crisis, migration, and refugees
This policy brief explores the migration-climate nexus and reveals that while higher displacement rates and climate change are intertwined, multilateral institutions, development agencies, and international law must do far more to thoroughly examine the challenges of climate change. The brief suggests that climate refugees may need legal recourse and, while the Sustainable Development Goals can help provide protection, the U.S. must update its climate response. Finally, the brief presents a case for scaling up U.S. action to confront the climate crisis.
