ACCC resource manual: reflections on adaptation planning processes and experiences
This manual presents the processes, methodologies, lessons and experiences from the Adapting to Climate Change in China (ACCC) Programme. The ACCC programme represented an iteration of initial adaptation planning processes and efforts within China. Some of the most important outcomes of the programme include the development of relationships between physical and social science researchers and the beginning of dialogue between researchers and policy makers.
This manual is organised around the overall ACCC process and the ways research groups framed it, and bounded by the outcomes and experiences that emerged from the multiple levels of stakeholder engagement. The manual includes general overview of the adaptation planning process phases and principles, the overview of stakeholder engagement, covering the reasons why one should engage with multiple stakeholders, the importance of engagement throughout the process, communication strategies, and some sample methods for engaging. It also discusses the general goals, potential steps, and conceptual guidelines for selecting methodologies that could be pertinent to that phase.
