Mission
The West Indies News Network (WINN FM 98.9, All Rights Reserved) began operations in St Kitts and Nevis in May 2002.
It was created as an independent station, with a mission to offer local, Caribbean and international programming, and to contribute meaningfully to the information, awareness and the development of St Kitts and Nevis and the wider region, through the building of educated and informed communities.
The station’s objective is to face issues squarely, without shying away from controversy, while striving continuously to provide balanced and responsible reporting.
Moreover, WINN FM 98.9 remains firm in its resolve to employ the strictest principles of honest and fair journalism, as it:
- safeguards and develops the democratic right of free speech in St Kitts and Nevis
- exercises a watchdog role in support of good governance, and
- represents the voice of the people, willing to tell truth to power.
The organization prides itself on being a reliable source of factual and original news content, giving all sides of each story.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
