Mission
The Voice Newspaper was founded in 1982 by Jamaican-born accountant, Val McCalla, who was awarded a grant from the Greater London Council to fund his business venture. Over its near three decade reign as 'Britain’s Best Black Newspaper', The Voice has served the black community by giving them a voice where other mainstream newspapers have failed. It has over the years been a thorn in the side of the establishment, campaigning on numerous issues and championing the causes of black people nationwide. The Voice is a mixture of news, features, sports and celebrity interviews.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
