Consisting of demonstrations of government procedures in any disaster, it is recommended that all Samoan villages implement the Community Disaster and Climate Risk Management training.
To commemorate World Tsunami Awareness Day, Samoa's Disaster Management Office has emphasised the importance of tsunami education, awareness and preparedness. Through the Community-Tsunami Preparedness Activities in Progress Programme, the government is informing communities, building capacity, raising preparedness awareness, and implementing simulation exercises.
Six Samoan schools have conducted a tsunami drill to test and evaluate the operational and decision-making readiness of principals, staff, and students in the event of a tsunami. It will allow these schools to simulate evacuation of the students in a safe manner to the identified safe locations as well as to test their drafted School’s Disaster Management Plan.
Through the Small Grant Scheme, currently open for applications from the 10 eligible communities under the 25 districts of Adaptation Fund project, communities are encouraged to apply for funding to implement small-scale adaptation initiatives and programs.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
