Our mission is: to save life.

Rescue Global works hard to live in a world where disasters are less impactful and are responded to by national or regional resources. We work to alleviate the negative effects that an international response can sometimes have, such as disempowering a country in the long term, whilst providing much needed relief in the short term.

How do disasters force vulnerable people into modern slavery?
Many factors make people susceptible to traffickers in disaster affected areas, including the loss of homes, food supplies, children separated from their families, migration and pre-existing vulnerabilities such as poverty. Understanding the ways in which a disaster will affect these factors is critical to anticipating methods of exploitation and countering modern slavery.

Launch of the University College London Centre for Gender and Health
The University College London (UCL) Institute for Global Health launched the Centre for Gender and Health, a multidisciplinary team that seek to address the complex relationships between gender norms and health status. At the launch, keynote speakers and panel discussions explored some fascinating concepts and research findings, many of which are pertinent to disaster risk reduction and response.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
