Mission
The Oak Bay Emergency Program is a non-profit volunteer organization, serving the emergency assistance needs of the Oak Bay community.
It is building a trained and capable disaster-response team of fire and police services, municipal staff and volunteers from the community who are prepared to respond in an emergency.
It provides information to the public about emergency preparedness. It also provides free training in various areas such as radio communications, emergency management, search and rescue. Various partner agencies provide this training including the Red Cross, Salvation Army, St. John Ambulance, Justice Institute, the provincial government ministry responsible for emergency preparedness, Search and Rescue Victoria, amateur radio clubs, and many others.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
