Mission
Infrastructure Canada is a Government of Canada department that:
- provides long-term, predictable support to help Canadians benefit from world-class, modern public infrastructure;
- makes investments, builds partnerships, develops policies, delivers programs, and fosters knowledge about public infrastructure in Canada; and
- helps address complex challenges that Canadians face every day—ranging from the rapid growth of our cities, to climate change, and environmental threats to our water and land.

Reinforced river banks, natural flood plains and new retention ponds will improve the flood resilience of people living in Grand Forks, BC.
Under the Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program, funding for four projects focusing on sustainable and green infrastructure was announced. These projects aim to help communities reduce their carbon footprint and increase their resilience to climate change.
The Canadian Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and the York Region Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, have announced funding for a project mitigating extreme temperatures, while also reducing the impacts of flooding and erosion in York Region.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
