Global Women’s Institute, George Washington University
Mission
The Global Women’s Institute (GWI) at the George Washington University (GW) launched in the Fall of 2012 as a university-wide initiative to advance gender equality through interdisciplinary research, education, and civic engagement. GWI leads and supports projects that will make a difference in the lives of women at home and around the world by promoting research that strengthens the global knowledge base on gender, investing in education that prepares the next generation of leaders, and advocating for civic engagement to influence policymakers and raise awareness of women’s issues.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
