Mission
In accordance with the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Disaster Reduction (IATF/DR), UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN-ISDR), the Wildland Fire Advisory Group (WFAG) and the Global Wildland Fire Network (GWFN) were created in 2004 under the auspices of the ISDR. The WFAG represents an advisory body to the UN system aimed at providing technical, scientific and policy-supporting advice to the UN family through the ISDR and the IATF/DR, and acting as a liaison between the United Nations system, the Global Wildland Fire Network and its supporting partners. The Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) is mandated to serve as convener and secretariat of the WFAG and GWFN. The goal of the GFMN is to develop synergies through coordinated and collective action to address the most pressing problems related to fire management globally.

Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
